Suede leather and shearling are natural partners. The soft, matte skin backed by the cozy natural texture of sheep fleece made a captivating choice for Tom Hardy’s Bane costume in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises. The villain’s dramatic full-length coat was tough and worn on the outside, but the scuffed patina reversed to a soft interior, a costuming choice that brilliantly captured his character arc.

This cowl is an homage to that contrast. Plush, Aran-weight merino looks crisp in a simple offset rib pattern while sumptuous novelty yarn in off-white serves as a perfect stand-in for shearling lining. I often find my eyes darting around at the cinema, taking in every detail of a set or costume, missing the plot entirely. Thank goodness for Netflix… .
