rand() is a top down, seamless pullover with a modified raglan construction that gives it the look of set in sleeves. Asymmetrical ribbing in Fibonacci numbers combines the flattering fit of a ribbed sweater with added visual interest. The detailed instructions tell you how to design your own unique ribbing sequences to work with your gauge in any yarn weight.

There is a fair bit of arithmetic involved. The pattern is 9 pages long, with a worksheet for you to write down all your calculations and sequences. There is no sizing, instead, follow the instructions based on your own measurements. It is easy to adjust for a wider neck, narrower sleeves, larger or smaller body, and the open collar would easily allow a child’s head to pass through. Instructions for bust shaping via short rows is also provided.

This pattern was partly inspired by Teva Durham’s Irregular Raglan with Toggle. Do check it out!

With many thanks to Antheras and tabi for initial proofreading and techediting, and to nathalienasr and furrricane for consenting to be my first guinea pigs. furrricane also did the photography for the featured sweater, which is modelled by Patrick. Additional thanks go to Woolly Thoughts for hosting a test knit, and AlmiJay, cperrine, Izzy and MsTarzan for test knitting and additional feedback.
