The library is a growing organism

These are the Five Laws of Library Science, proposed in 1931 by S. R. Ranganathan, an Indian mathematician and librarian who is considered one of the founders of modern library and information science. His “laws” focus on creating libraries that serve patrons, rather than staff or administrators, and have acted as a cornerstone of library
science ever since. Ranganathan’s birthday is still observed in India every August 9 as National Library Day.

Sharon Fuller designed these mitts as a reminder of what—and whom—libraries are for. Wearing a law on the back of each hand, a librarian can proclaim her (or his) fealty to the profession while keeping hands warm for typing or shelving books.

Errata: The charts in the single pattern are correct. The charts in the book contain a number of serious problems. The publisher did not make errata available; please contact me for clean original charts. If you can do something to demonstrate you own the book, that would be much appreciated. ; )
