Rathview Park is a classic garter stitch shawlette, with a body comprising two columns of paired increases and a Victorian-era Normandy lace edging. Knit from the top down in DK weight yarn, the edging is knit perpendicularly onto the live stitches on the needle after completion of the body. Worked almost entirely in garter stitch, Rathview Park is easy enough for a confident beginner, but also provides enough interest for the most experienced knitters.

Although designed for DK weight yarn, Rathview Park is adjustable, and works well in any weight of yarn, to make it the perfect accompaniment to every outfit, for every occasion.

FINISHED SIZE AFTER BLOCKING:

Sample measured 50in from tip to tip; 18in deep at centre back (the pattern is adjustable to fit, dependent on the quantity of yarn used)

SUGGESTED YARN:

At least 200g DK weight yarn, such as Old Maiden Aunt Bluefaced Leicester DK (230 yds/100g), shown in ‘Derelict Daughter’ (sample shown used 200g of yarn).

4.5mm (US 7) circular needle (120 cm/46in), or size that gives an appropriately drapey fabric

GAUGE AFTER BLOCKING:

14 stitches and 24 rows to 4 inches (10cm) in garter stitch (however, gauge is not critical for this shawl, as long as you follow the directions within the pattern for calculating how to maximise usage of your available yarn).
