Rayne is a snuggly fitting tubular cowl with a provisional cast on and a tubular grafting method that seamlessly joins the two ends together . The mosaic and slip stitch patterns are deceivingly simple and are easily memorized. Perfect for knitting in front of your favorite series or movie!

Although this was originally designed for using a gradient yarn, this would look great in anything you want to use as long as one of your yarn choices is a solid contrasting color.

The pattern includes both charts and written instructions for the charts. Links are provided in the pattern instructions for both the provisional cast on and grafting a tube to help with these techniques if you are unfamiliar with them.

Although the pattern is written for a cowl that is roughly 6” wide and 32” long, you may lengthen it for a looser fit or shorten the length if you prefer a cowl that is more snug. To do either you will need to adjust the amounts of yarn you use accordingly.

Yarn: Yarn A (main color) approximately 1 skein 430 - 460 m (470 - 505 yds) of fingering weight yarn
Yarn B (contrasting color) approximately 1 skein 430 - 460 m (470 - 505 yds) of fingering weight yarn

It is best to use either 2 solids or 1 solid and 1 variegated or gradient yarn. Make sure your yarn choices are contrasting enough to show off the mosaic well.

Gauge: 28 sts x 36r = 4 in (10 cm) stockinette

Needles: 2 x 2.5mm (US 1.5) circular needles
3mm (US 2.5) circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: 1 stitch marker and 2 removable stitch markers, waste yarn and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends
