This is a nice cotton shrug with great drape for cool summer nights or cold air conditioned days and easy enough to make while watching television. The pattern is written for some really great Araucania Chacabuco Multy which is a super bulky cotton with a lot of personality. The simple garter stitch does not take away from the characteristics of the yarn while also showing off the yarn’s texture.

You could substitute Araucania Chacabuco Solid to get the same fabric type on the finished project as the only difference between this and the Multy is the coloring. While I assume you could use an acrylic or even a wool yarn, I am not sure you would get the same drape without modifying the pattern to work it with a finer yarn than super bulky.
