I spent some birthday money and purchased some beautiful blood red tulip bulbs. Their red blooms made a stunning statement against an early spring snow that fell that day they bloomed. As I couldn’t work in the garden that day, I picked up my knitting needles. I used the white faux pearls to symbolize the patches the snow that spring morning. Unfortunately, the snow damaged the delicate flower petals but the pillow endures.

An easy pillow with a dramatic appearance blending beads and fiber. Black wool-alpaca pillow with chunky alpaca knit flowers accented with faux pearls. Front and back are knit from worsted weight (shown in Nashua Julia). Front is stockinette, black is a textured version of seed stitch). Embellishments are knit from chunky alpaca (shown in Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande). Outer trim is Crochet Beaded Cord which is also used to decorate the center button (pattern included). Leaves are very simple crocheted chain stitch done with chunky alpaca. While there are many steps to this piece, nothing is complicated.
