Classic design, majestic colours, and a good cuppa!*

and an even better second one, seeing as you now have a nice little tea cosy to keep it toasty.

This is a quick little stash busting project that can be made in a couple of evenings, with about 50m of yarn in two colours.

This pattern is for a 2 cup teapot, and modeled in the photos on quite a fat little pot. The cosy has a lot of stretch in it, and can be modified when knitting (by altering the tension of the floats) to better fit the tea pot you have in mind for it.

Gauge and Sizing:
This is tricky, as gauge really depends on how tightly you pull the floats across the back of the work, and by the time you have done a gauge swatch, you could’ve made half the tea cosy. I say pick a needle size above that recommended on the ball band and/or the one above your usual DK gauge and go for it. When you have knitted half of the first side of the cosy, measure against your pot – you want it to just stretch around the middle, as the yarn will relax and stretch a bit with use. The bottom of the cosy will be quite loose, but this is fine as you need stretch in it to allow it to go over the handle and spout.
