This cosy was designed in Rememberance of not only those who died during World Wars and other more recent conflicts at the hands of the ‘enemy’ but the many who were executed for being considered cowards - in todays world they would be treated for Post Traumatic Stress etc.
The main body (cream) of the tea cosy is worked in simple trebles with the poppies, leaves and poppy ribbon on the bottom worked and added on. I prefer to work in a wool rich yarn as this will keep the tea warmer for longer!
The original version was worked with a brown main part - to represent the muddy fields of WW1 - however the poppies didn’t stand out enough.
