Remembering Clara Bow is the first design in the “It Girl” Collection. It is a vintage-style crochet cloche hat, in 3 sizes, with matching fingerless mitts/wrist warmers that also work as infant/child legwarmers. Reminiscent of the Flapper Era when women like silent-movie star Clara Bow dared to flaunt new fashions and embark on new careers, challenging the status quo of the Victorian and Edwardian ideals of femininity and women’s “right” place in Society, these versatile designs are quick to make in bulky weight yarn with a 7mm crochet hook.

1 - 50g ball in each of two colours is needed to make the hat OR 6.5” long wristwarmers/fingerless mitts. There is enough in these 2 balls, however, to make a set if you make for example a pink hat with white stripe/bow, and white mitts with pink stripe/bow. To make a matching set you will need 100g of each colour.

The “It Girl” Collection will feature more hats, sweaters, scarves, and other fashionable accessories for modern women–who owe so much to those bold, daring, and adventurous women of the early 20th century: the “Flappers.” I hope they will help you individualize your own “It Girl” look:

choose colours and fibres that please you; stay up late to finish them; and end up with better health by staying warm while you go out and have fun!
