2/19/2018 I wrote the pattern by “deconstructing” a vintage shawl (no worries, I didn’t unravel it), counting stitches and rows as best I could. The original shawl doesn’t appear to have been knitted by following a pattern, but rather seams to have quite a few “improvisations.” Instead of trying to perfect the original, I left those small quirks to get as close to the original as possible.

To address a few FAQs:
The increases in the shawl do result in an uneven number of stitches in some rows. The pattern stitch requires an even number. Depending on how much of a perfectionist you are, you can address this two ways:

1. Do one less increase to end up with even number of stitches rib pattern; or
2. Start or end the row with one extra knit stitch.
