This scarf matches the Reverse Panda Mittens. If you purchase both patterns (or bought the other one previously), the total price will be $7.50 USD.

This scarf was inspired by Ri Ri and Shin Shin, the pandas at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. The front side of the scarf features a giant panda sitting in a forest, and the back side has a baby panda reaching toward the trees.

Pattern assumes familiarity with stranded knitting in the round, reading a colorwork chart, and grafting.

Two samples were knit at the same gauge but using different yarn weights:

Sample #1 was knit with Cascade 220 Superwash and is thick and cozy.

Sample #2 was knit with Rowan Pure Wool Superwash DK (black) and Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Sport (white) and is a little thinner, but will certainly be warm enough for a New England winter.

The samples used approximately 800 yards/730 meters of white yarn and 140 yards/130 meters of black yarn; they each measure 6.75” x 72”.

Exact gauge is not critical for this project, but will affect the finished dimensions of the scarf.

Matching mittens will be available soon!
