These are based on some wrist warmers I saw at a local coffee shop with an unusual bumpy texture. Looking inside, it appeared that the texture was created with cables on the inside. After some online research, it turned out what I thought were cables were actually a modified version of Barbara Walker’s “Dropstitch Honeycomb” stitch (from one of her Treasuries of stitches). I added a thumb and garter stitch cuffs to to the top and bottom and Reversible Coffee Shop Mitts were born. Enjoy!

UPDATE: I’m working on a pair using a finer yarn (14 wpi) and having difficulty getting accurate gauge to determine how many stitches to cast on. Looks like you’ll need to use a smaller needle than you’d think - the pattern shows better with a tighter knit. Also, Please stop to measure the mitt after you’ve done a few repeats of the dropstitch pattern and re-calculate if it seems to be way off. Apologies to anyone who needs to frog. I promise to update the actual pattern once I get this worked out better.
