This striking “reversible” rug is easy and fun to make. Each row is worked with the Spike DC Mosaic Crochet technique on the right side with only one color of yarn across, starting and finishing off each row. The ends/tails on each row are turned into fringe on the 2 side edges, so there are no ends to weave in! Use 2 contrasting colors (a dark and a light) or 3 solid dark colors, along with 1 light contrasting color, as we’ve used in this rug, so the geometric pattern can be easily seen!

Rug (in pattern size) requires 3 skeins of LB Hometown and 2 skeins of LB Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn. Rug can be made larger or smaller by repeating row multiples and/or stitch multiples, per pattern.

To learn this Spike DC Mosaic Crochet technique, watch my YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/TBkBWzdZgL8.

A link to a free swatch chart & written instructions is included in the video description.

This rug is made with super bulky (#6) weight yarn. The pattern includes full written instructions, as well as a chart and many step-by-step photos. Two downloads are included: one with the extra photos and one without (for using less ink/toner when printing the pattern). This pattern is written in a short style (with information about how to read this style of pattern), for ease of following the pattern. Here is a sample of that style:

“With RS facing, join MC1 with sc in first st; SPdc, ch, sc 2 twice, SPdc, ch, sc, ch,…”
