Bottom of cozy is crocheted; body of the cozy is knit on double pointed needles.

Pattern calls for aran or worsted weight yarn, as well as a J/10 crochet hook (6.00 mm) and a set of five double pointed knitting needles in US Size 8 (5.00 mm).

Need a last minute gift? Whip up this simple Ribbed Wine Bottle Cozy, insert a nice bottle of wine, and you have a very special gift for someone special. But of course… you will have to make a Wine Bottle Cozy for yourself as well.

This project starts with a small crocheted circle and, from that, the body of the Wine Bottle Cozy grows and works up quickly in a ribbed pattern. The ribbing allows the Wine Bottle Cozy to conform to the curves of the bottle nicely. Eyelet holes are created near the top of the bottle so that an I-cord drawstring can be inserted to gather the Wine Bottle Cozy nicely. A gift card could be added to the drawstring. What a great presentation for a gift!

With one ball of Bernat Mosaic, you can make two Wine Bottle Cozies. Cascade Yarns make yarns called “Souk” and “Casablanca” which are similar in weight and would make beautiful Wine Bottle Cozies as well. I have also made Wine Bottle Cozies with Berroco Comfort Worsted Weight with excellent results; worsted weight yarn results in a slightly snugger fitting Wine Bottle Cozy. The beauty of knitting in ribbing is that there is a lot of flexibility in sizing.

I hope you enjoy this pattern!
