This playful twist on the chevron pattern works up quickly and will be a sweet gift for any new baby. You can change the colors to match any palette. A larger blanket would work nicely for an older child or adult, or for any room in your home.

Size: The blanket measures approximately 23” x 26”. Instructions are included to make the blanket larger or smaller.

Level: Intermediate
The pattern features an easy repeat. Because of the ridged shape, the border is more of an intermediate level crochet. The tutorial includes step by step instructions with pictures for the non-standard stitches, making it accessible to the advanced beginner ready for a challenge.

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terms. The PDF download includes:

  • The complete pattern for the blanket, border, and butterflies
  • A step by step tutorial with pictures and details of each stitch used
    • 107 pictures for the blanket pattern
    • 132 pictures for the border pattern
    • 23 pictures for the butterfly pattern
  • A list of materials
  • A list of abbreviations
  • Color pattern
  • Descriptions of all non-standard stitches

Two pdfs are included: a printer friendly pattern and a longer tutorial.

I made the blanket with Knit Pick’s Shine Sport yarn and a G (4 mm) hook. I used 3 50g balls of each color and had a little left over. Exact colors are given in the pattern. However, you can use other yarn.
