This versatile collar or cowl can be worn tied with a cord, yarn chain or ribbon fastened into a bow, buttoned or with a decorative stick through the cowl for closure. You can wear the top part of the cowl up or folded down over itself.

There’s plenty of texture and visual interest in this piece thanks to its moss stitch edging, eyelets and wavy ribs which almost give the appearance of mock cables.

The name of the pattern comes from the direction the wavy ribs in the design are pointing to. The numerous columns of eyelets represent the rain.

You need approximately 150 yards of Worsted weight yarn to make this collar/cowl with. I used one skein of Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton in the color Sleet.

The finished piece measures 24” around and 7” in height.
