Riley Rose Hat is a 5-colored slouchy hat based on the stitch patterns in my Riley Rose shawl. It is an easy to knit hat project where the stitch patterns and colors change just often enough to keep you from getting bored! Pairs well with the Riley Rose Shawl & Cowl.

The pattern is written for 7 sizes: Tween, Teen (Adult XS, Adult S, Adult M, Adult L, Adult XL)

  • Finished Circumference in Inches: 16, 17 (18, 19, 20, 21, 22)
  • Finished Circumference in Centimeters: 40.5, 43 (45.75, 48.25, 50.75, 53.25, 55.75)
  • Finished Length for all sizes: 11.75 in/ 30 cm
  • The hat is meant to be worn with 2 inches of negative ease. The finished hat is very stretchy. The sample shown in knit in size Teen (17 inch circumference) on a 21 inch head and fits very comfortably. If you like a snug fit and are unsure, I’d recommend sizing down.
  • If you prefer less slouch, you can reduce the number of ribbing rounds at the beginning of the hat.

Yarn: Choose 5 colors of your favorite fingering weight yarn (or maybe use a bunch of minis and switch up the colors as little or as often as you like).

Sample was knit with a 5-color Mini Skein Set from Holly Press Fibers in the Riley Rose’s Reindeer Colorway. Check out samples knit by my test knitters some of which also use Holly Press Fibers Mini Skein Sets to see other fun color combinations.

As shown in sample with approximate yards used:

Color B: Red (15-20 grams)
Color C: Pink (9-12 grams)
Color D: Light Blue (4-5 grams)
