Rincewind, student of Unseen University in Ankh Morpork, is a Wizard of the highest order (if you count incompetence). His only real talent is escaping Death. When you are on the run from enemies, a shawl is a handy thing to have around. You can use it for warmth, shade, shelter, as a pillow, and as a place to hide if necessary. This one even has handy peep holes in the edging. The quick-to-knit pattern is great for knitting on the run.

Pattern is a crescent-shaped shawl with increases at the edges and a lacy border. Pattern instructions are written and require knowledge of basic stitches, simple shaping, and simple lace. A good pattern for beginners to stretch their skills and a good travel or TV knit for more experienced knitters.

Yarn: Pattern has flexible gauge, is suitable for any size yarn, is customizable to the yarn you have on hand so it is a great stash busting project. Here are some general yardages to give you an idea how much yarn you need.

  • 400 – 600 yd/366 – 548 m Fingering or sport weight yarn
  • 300 – 500 yd/ 275 – 457 m DK or worsted weight yarn
  • 300 – 400 yd/275 - 365 m Bulky weight yarn.

Needle Size: Gauge is flexible but to get a fabric with good drape, I recommend using a needle that is 1 - 3 sizes larger than the size recommended on the yarn label.
