11/15/2013: FINISHING SHOULDER SEAMS UPDATE: The pattern section titled “finishing shoulders” is written poorly. Here is a corrected version:

Turn vest inside out. Place right front shoulder stitches onto one needle. Work 3-needle bind-off for 7 (6, 10, 9) stitches to connect right front shoulder to the back.. Bind off 28 (34, 44, 40) stitches. Place left front shoulder stitches onto one needle and work 3-needle bind-off for 7 (6, 10, 9) stitches. (At this point, all stitches should be either connected -- shoulder seams -- or bound off.) Break yarn, and turn vest right-side out.

While planning our wedding, I had tons of ideas for making the entire event handmade. On that list? Handmade items for the flower girls and ring bearers. Oh how Iā€™d dreamed of adorable ring bearers in super cute hand-knit vests! But unable to find a good pattern (free!) that I could use for a wide variety of boy (and girl) sizes, I chose to make my own.

While the vest is knit up on size 6 needles, it knits up fast and furious, offering up a quick gift for the little ones in your life!
