These quick mittlets with a simple buttonhole thumb are a great way to use lots of color and the perfect wardrobe addition for those shoulder season days when the weather can’t make up its mind. Tuck your thumb through the hole for cozy hand-warmers, slide the whole piece up your wrist to keep your arms warm and your hands free, or take them off entirely if the day heats up.

Gauge: 26 st and 40 rows on larger needles after blocking. Ball-park gauge is fine, with the caveat that I designed these to fit fairly loosely and I consider myself to be a fairly tight knitter. Follow directions for smaller size if you are a loose knitter or would like a tighter fit.

Needles : US Size 1 (2.25mm) and US size 2.5 (3.0mm) double pointed needles

Suggested Yarn: One set of Upton Yarns Straw’s Farm Island Sheep fingering weight mini-skein kits, five skeins, 55 yards each.
