I love to take a favorite stitch pattern and modify it to become a larger repeat. In this case, I took a basic ripple pattern and made it wider, with unevenly sized ripples. Then the ripples themselves grown and shrink to make the ends of the stole taper.

Despite being a fairly dense and cozy stole, the length makes it stay on nicely and the slim ends do not add unwanted bulk to your waist.

This stole took up almost all of the 5 skeins I used. You may want an extra just in case! The middle portion is easy to lengthen or shorten as desired, and it is simple to make the tapered ends more tapered.

While I used worsted weight, this pattern works really well in fingering and sport too. Knit at the same gauge for a more airy stole.

The pattern is fully written out line by line, and charted. Take your choice!

this pattern is also available on Knit Picks.
