Contents of the MKAL~

With this MKAL, we’ll be creating a fiery shawl featuring a motif of a phoenix.

When you purchase the pattern you will receive an introductory file download of the schedule, yardage/recommended yarns, and a swatch from the pattern in order give everyone a taste of the pattern.

This is an intermediate level project, previous experience with double-knitting or other colorwork and chart reading is highly recommended.

Required Skills~
Chart reading for colorwork
Double Knitting
Increasing in Double Knitting (KFB and PFB or preferred method)

Suggested yarn and yardage~
You will need approximately 630-670 total yards each color of sport weight yarn for a total of approximately 1300 yards total. Make sure to choose two nicely contrasting colors! If you feel your gauge may tend towards being larger than the given gauge, make sure you have a bit more yarn just in case. We recommend using Malabrigo Arroyo or a similar yarn, you will need approximately 2 skeins of each color of Arroyo (4 skeins total).

US size 2 (2.75 mm) 48” circular needles
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers

Approximate Finished Measurements~
70” x 20”

Other Notes

At the end of the KAL, the participants will receive a copy of the complete pattern at no additional cost. After April 5th, 2014 the pattern will be released with a full price USD 6. You can purchase the pattern with a coupon during the MKAL in order receive the full pattern release at the end of the MKAL, you are not in any way obligated to participate but we’d love to have you stop by!

You don’t have to make this shawl in double-knitting! You can also choose to make this shawl using the colorwork method of your choice. If you should choose to make this shawl using alternate methods of colorwork, please note that your finished piece will not be reversible and that it will likely have different dimensions from those listed. To help prevent this, swatch before you start!

This is an advanced-intermediate level project, previous experience with double-knitting/chart reading is recommended.

As this is a MKAL, please avoid posting spoilers in the form of progress photos as the first photo on your project page :3 If you want to see an image of the chart, you can check out the spoiler page (at your own risk of spoiling the MKAL!) here~
