This is the afghan that was designed in 2004.

If you are looking for the all new in 2014 Year Long Afghan 2, you can find it here.

Several knitters have asked me if these squares are the same size as the 2014 Year Long Afghan 2. The answer, unfortunately, is no. The squares for this afghan are 16”. The squares for the newer afghan are 14”. This was really poor planning on my part. I had no idea people might want to mix and match squares from both afghans. My apologies.

Work one square each month, and at the end of the year, you’ll have a beautiful afghan. You will also have practiced numerous techniques, including Fair Isle, cables, mosaic, mitered squares, bobbles, steeks, and more!

This pattern is written for 6 colors. However you could use just 2 or as many colors as you like. These choices will impact yardage requirements. This is how much yarn was used to knit the original afghan:

Clematis: 4 balls
Spice: 3 balls plus 2 for edging
Rust: 2 balls
Autumn Harvest: 3 balls
Khaki: 3 balls
Old Sage: 2 balls

Each individual square has its own gauge and needle requirements.
