Despite its name-- “Rivers of Ice”-- this is a very warm, yet, lacy scarf with a lovely, wavy pattern stitch that reminds one of the fancy ice that forms in rivers, streams, and brooks in winter. The scarf is knitted with an edging first, then, stitches are picked up to begin the body of the scarf. A second edge is worked and sewn on to the scarf to finish it. There are plenty of fun, knitting techniques, such as; double yarn overs, and lots of increases and decreases in this scarf to keep one interested in its development. With charts as well as written instructions to follow, and a soft, heathery, fingering weight wool, one can make this scarf a must have for winter accessories!
