Flowing rib stitches emulate the channels on the surface on Mars. A tubular cast on is used to give a neat and stretchy start to the ribbing, which flows down into a traditional heel-flap and gusset constructed sock. The socks have a higher cuff at the front than the back, emphasizing the ribs flowing up the front of the leg, and down the back.

To ensure the stitch pattern is clearly visible, solid or semi-solid colourways are recommended.

The stitch pattern is available in both charted and written format.

Techniques required:
Tubular cast on (instructions are included in the pattern on pages 7 & 8, or can be seen here on my blog).
Knitting in the round The pattern is written for magic loop or knitting on two circulars, but can be worked on DPNs (it states how to change the needle references to suit).
Grafting (either Kitchener stitch or 3 needle bind off)
