The brick pattern in this shawl reminds me of a cobblestone road. It’s my favorite section in this shawl! Therefore, it’s a Road (Ode) to Joy! And who doesn’t need that in 2020?

This shawl can be knit using either 2 or 3 colors. The main color can be used again in place of the second contrast color in the brick road section. If you decide to go with 3 different colors you can keep your MC and CC2 close in color for a subtle effect or really different for some fun color play! Just be sure your CC1 is a good contrast for both the MC and the CC2.

These models used yarns with subtle (Scheepjes Our Tribe) or quick (Shepherd’s Wool Crazy) color changes but this shawl would be equally beautiful in solids, tonals, hand dyed or speckle yarn. Although, I think a solid or tonal would still be best for CC1 to better show off the lace section and to ensure good contrast to the other yarns.

Have fun with your colors and start your Road to Joy!
