In the middle of the Peconic River there lies a small, private wooded island. The water flows around this quiet sanctuary out into the great Atlantic Ocean. Like the waters of the Peconic, the cables of this hat meander along its length with a soothing symmetry, creating a classic, unisex cap or slouch.

Skills Used:
• knitting in the round
• cables
• decreasing

Yarn:
• 185 (197) yds 170 (180)m DK weight yarn for cap
• 220 (252) yds 201 (231)m DK weight yarn for slouch

Slouch shown in String Yarns Classica DK, color Ecru (201227).

Needles & Notions:
• US 7 (4.5mm) needles*

• Set of US 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed needles (if using shorter circular needle)

• stitch marker (1)
• tapestry needle
• pom pom (optional)

* Set of double-pointed or 16” (40cm) circular or 32” (80cm) circular needles for working magic loop, as preferred, to work in the round.
