A twisted rib (made by working the second stitch ahead of the next stitch on the left-hand needle) and variegated yarn add a special touch to the brim of this simple beanie – topped with a pom pom to make the most of the different colours. Instructions are given for five sizes: baby/small child, older child, teen, small/medium adult and large adult.

You will need 70–100g (200–300m) of DK yarn in total, with equal amounts of two different colours. I used Hayfield Bonus DK ‘Royal’ and Hayfield Breeze DK ‘Mist’. You will also need 3.25m and 4mm needles and a needle for seaming.
