The reversible zigzag of this cowl reminds me of the patterns water makes as it flows down a rocky river.

Pattern as written uses bulky weight yarn but is easily adaptable to other yarn weights by changing the needle size and number of cast on stitches. Width and circumference can similarly be adjusted to suit your preference.

If provisional cast on and grafting techniques are not yet in your knitting repertoire, the Rocky River Cowl can be knit as a scarf and the two narrow ends seamed together to form a cowl. Never let a pattern intimidate you! Knit to your skill level which will improve with each project completed. Give yourself permission to make adjustments!
