This jacket is modeled after western shirts – right down to those fabulous little pearlized snaps.

Depending on the colors you choose, you can make the jacket look traditional or rockabilly.

Rodeo Kid is designed to be loose fitting, so the two sizes below can cover a range of ages from 18 months to 5 years. What starts out as a loose outer jacket on a toddler can last a while, ending up as a closer-fitting cardigan on a preschooler. Yeehaw!

This garment would be perfect as part of a Halloween cowboy or cowgirl costume or for everyday dress-up fun.

The styling is gender-neutral. Your choice of colors and ribbon will make the sweater look girlish, boyish, or non-specific.

If you are looking to expand your skills or looking for an interesting construction, this is the pattern for you. The body is knit from the bottom up, joined at the shoulders with a three-needle bind off, and then the set-in sleeves are picked up around the armhole and worked in the round down to the cuff. The sweater uses snaps and decorative ribbon instead of buttons or zippers for closures.
