For as long as I can remember I have loved the epic films that were the hallmark of Hollywood’s golden age. As a child I would spend a long afternoon engrossed in Liz Taylor’s Queen Cleopatra or Charlton Heston’s Judah Ben-Hur. What I loved most were the fabulous costumes that portrayed ancient slices of history. It is in that spirit that this toga-inspired top was created.

Roman is a one-shouldered shaped tank in an allover reverse stockinette stitch pattern that provides a lovely background for an asymmetrical neckline bordered with a simple cable twist. A classic crocheted trim adds an old-world feel to this otherwise fashion forward top.

DIFFICULTY: appropriate for an intermediate knitter or an adventurous beginner. The pattern utilizes basic cabling skills, increasing, decreasing, short rows, and some basic crochet.
