I knit the original capelet in my ooak handspun, but you can substitute any bulky yarn. Here’s what I used: Written for 5 different handspun yarns, but would look lovely in just one or two. All yarns are bulky singles. I chose smooth thick and thin yarns for A and B, a fleecy corespun for C, a multicolor autowrapped single for D and a similar-to-C but deeper colored corespun for E.
Yardages: Allow 55 yds A, 85 yds D, 35 yds C, 35 yds D, and 25 yds E. total: approx 235 yds. May take more or less depending on yarn and knitting tension.
Needles: US 10 ! circular for capelet, pair of size 8 double points for I cord. Tapestry needle to run in ends. One large and two smaller stitch markers. Large marker marks center back, smaller marker marks shoulder line.
Gauge: Capelet, 11 sts over 4 inches. I Cord, just knit a reasonably firm cord. Notions: shawl pin to hold on flower.
Finished Measurements: 11 inches long and approx, 32 inches around at neck and approx 51 inches around at hem.
Notions; one large marker indicates center back, two small markers indicate shoulder line.
