A sleekly – not to say strictly – designed cardigan oriented to the form of a Kimono. It is made out of just one piece, adopting its final shape through two side seams. The edging in double moss stitch is integrated and knitted directly with the body. Thus you will just pick up a few stitches for the neckline but won’t have more seams.
The pattern uses the model shown on the pictures as an example – the form is very flexible, you can easily adjust length and width. You might even decide to knit a long Kimono – for each step you will find a simple explanation how to calculate your measures.
Materials:
• 740 g Wollmeise DK (here: Rosenrot)
• long circular needles 3,5 mm (US: 4)
• stitch markers
• crochet needle 3,5 mm
• sock needles 3,5 cm
Measures: length 76 cm (30 inches), width 57 cm (22,5 inches).

You knit this jacket from one side to the other. This makes it quite suitable for multicolor yarns or for stripes as the pattern arises vertically – and thus figure flattering. You start at one of the side seams, knitting one back-/front part first, then the center part of the back, then the other back-/front part. Only then you proceed with the sleeves and the collar/lapel.

Eine schlicht – um nicht zu sagen streng – geschnittene Jacke, die an der Kimonoform orientiert ist. Sie besteht aus nur einem Stück, das seine endgültige Form durch zwei Seitennähte erhält. Die Umrandung im großen Perlmuster wird gleich mitgestrickt, so dass auch nur im Nacken einige Maschen aufzunehmen sind – ansonsten gibt es keine Nähte.
Die Anleitung nimmt die gezeigte Jacke als Beispiel – die Form ist extrem flexibel, man kann Länge und Breite sehr einfach anpassen und etwa auch einen langen Kimono stricken. Daher wird bei jedem Schritt erläutert, wie sich die Maße errechnen.

Die Jacke wird quer gestrickt, also von einer Seite zur anderen. Dadurch ist sie für Multicolor-Garne, aber auch für Streifen gut geeignet, denn es entstehen (figurschmeichelnde) senkrechte Streifen. Man beginnt an einer der Seitennähte und strickt zunächst das eine Rücken- und Vorderteil, dann den Teil des Rückens, der unter dem Nacken liegt, und dann das andere Rücken- und Vorderteil. Erst dann folgen Ärmel sowie Blende/Kragen.
