July 2019: This pattern has been updated and simplified. It is the same old Rose Window, but is now much easier to read and start.

Rose Window is a two color shawl pattern using slipped stitches and cables to create a pattern of diamonds. It is worked from the center out in the round.
It has been written to be adjusted and adapted to your desires. Both written and charted versions are available, and numerous design options. An ending point has been written for every cable cross, so this pattern is very adaptable.

Slipped stitch cables make an impressive show without a lot of technical difficulty.

Depending on the yarn chosen and the number of rows, it can make a doily, tablecloth, baby blanket, shawl or afghan.

About 2/3 of the yarn will be Main Color which is the color the bars appear in and 1/3 will be Contrast Color.

For a doily, trivet or mandala, from 8 to 30 inches in diameter, you will need:
90 to 1000 yards of lace weight, fingering or sport weight yarn or,
120 to 750 yards of DK or,
210 to 360 yards of worsted weight yarn.

For a baby blanket or small shawl, from 33 to 49 inches in diameter you will need:
1320 to 3000 yards of lace weight,
1450 to 2400 yards of fingering yarn,
1100 to 2100 yards of sport, fingering or DK weight yarn,
840 to 1400 yards of worsted weight yarn.

For a large shawl or throw, 50 to 77 inches in diameter, you will need:
3100 yards of fingering yarn,
2700 to 3500 yards of sport weight,
2500 to 4200 yards of DK weight, or
2000 to 4500 yards of worsted weight yarn.

You will also need long circular needles, cable needles and markers.

This is a well tested pattern. Difficulty is intermediate.
