Spreading some knitty joy during this difficult festive season -- all Katie Flora Knits patterns are on sale for $2 for one week, until midnight Friday 11th December. Stay well, and keep knitting. <3

Amidst the chaos and clamour, take time to reflect and rejuvenate. Choose a rustic yarn to showcase Rosehip’s gentle texture and botanical motifs, and spend some time luxuriating in the quiet, calm rhythms of yesteryear.

Notes

Rosehip is worked from the top down, with increases on both the outer edges and on either side of the centre spine. The shawl is finished with an applied lace border which binds off the body stitches as you go.

Yarn

Knit Picks Wool of the Andes 50g 100m/110yd in ‘Haze Heather’ (9 skeins; 100% highland wool). Actual yardage used in sample: 800m/880yd. Please ensure you have enough yardage to account for variations in gauge and swatching.

If substituting yarn, select the same yardage of 100% wool worsted weight yarn. Yardage and finished measurements may vary according to yarn choice and individual gauge.

Needles & Notions

100cm/40” circular needle (to accommodate large number of stitches; shawl is worked flat) in sizes 5mm/US8, or as required to meet gauge, and 6mm/US10, or two sizes larger than smaller gauge-appropriate needle.

Stitch markers x 3; tapestry needle; large surface and pins/wires for wet-blocking finished shawl.

Finished measurements

Wingspan: 85”/216cm
Depth: 34”/86cm

Confident knitters will be able to modify shawl size by choosing a lighter weight yarn.

Measurements taken after wet-blocking, from relaxed fabric.
