The color pattern for this cowl is adapted from the “roses in boats” design used in Persian rugs. The cowl has a small border knit in to provide finish to the edges.

This reversible cowl is worked flat, in double-knit, and grafted into a circle. A provisional cast-on is used to allow grafting. The cowl is tall (9 inches / 22.86 cm) allowing it to be turned down for extra warmth but can be a close fit going over the head. For a longer, narrower cowl you could work half the design (27 sts instead of 51).

The “full width” sample was knit using Feel Good Yarn’s Silver Spun Sport in Natural and Indigo. Silver Spun Sport yarn is cotton with Spandex, nylon, and silver. The “half width” sample was worked with Conshohocken Cotton Softball Featherweight.

Optional (but strongly suggested): 6 stitch markers
