This crescent shaped shawl pattern combines one very old and feminine lace stitch as its focal stitch, with a fairly ornate edging stitch, which is added in the traditional Shetland manner. The combination makes a very feminine and lacy shawl. It is crescent shaped, and is approximately 70 inches wide by 20 inches deep. It will keep you warm in the winter and not be too heavy for the fall, spring, and air conditioning in the summer.

It is made with a heavier of the fingering weight yarns, and is knit on size 7 (U.S.) needles. The shawl requires approximately 1000 yards of yarn making it both a perfect first time lace shawl project, as well as the perfect gift.

The stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).

The Shawl was expertly pattern tested by: This pattern was expertly pattern tested by Betsy Finn, who can be reached at: betsyfinn.com. It was made using Fiesta’s Baby Boom in colorway, Cactus Flower.
