This pattern is a revision of a popular children’s pattern from my Ravelry collection, with refinement to the bodice shaping and the addition of pockets, as well as being knitted up for a new yarn. It works equally well as a dress or tunic, so if you knit the right age bracket, it will last at least two seasons.

Cotton yarn is more hard wearing than wool and will also span the seasons. The dress can be worn on its own as a light, comfortable summer dress or with tights over a long-sleeved top during the winter making it a cross-seasonal garment.

Sirdar Cotton DK is a delightful yarn to work with, has a lovely sheen and is soft to the touch.
