The Rósir socks are matching my Rósir mittens, a pattern for fingering yarn that I published back in 2014. Both are inspired by a pair of Nordic style mittens belonging to the Textile Museum in Blöndúos. Mittens like those were popular and knitted with fine handspun Icelandic wool often in two colors, white and black or white and brown. Knitted in an array of natural sheep colors or in colors inspired by Icelandic nature, the Rósir mittens had a refreshingly modern flair. So have the Rósir socks with their simple rose pattern, striking striped gusset and elegant lace cuff. They are worked in the round from the toe up in stranded knitting with a wedge toe and a reinforced heel.
The pattern is also the occasion to perfect your stranded knitting technique and deal with long floats. Two methods are offered, one less known that the other.

Sizes: 1(2,3,4) to fit foot 22.5(24,25.5,27) cm / 8¾ (9¼,10,10½)” in circumference.
Shown in a Size 2 (grey socks, slightly shorter in length than the pattern says) and 3 (coral socks)

Recommended fit: negative ease 1 cm / ¼” in circumference and 5% in length.
