Rotini Hat

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

This is a fun and easy hat knit flat and seamed up the sides. The pigtails remind me of rotini pasta, hence the name. It uses a combination of knitting and basic crochet. For those who cannot crochet, an alternate method to knit the rotini has been added to the pattern as of 8/13/08. The crochet gives a better result and is easier, so I would recommend it whenever possible. The pattern includes sizing for all ages and the yarn of your choosing.

The original was knit with Dream in Color Classy “Happy Forest” for the hat and Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted “Rainbow” for the pigtails. The pigtails are a great way to use scraps or incorporate a really loud, but beautiful, yarn without it overpowering the hat.
