Originally designed to make the most out of your “rough stuff”- small amounts of leftover yarn or variegated yarns that just won’t play nicely with patterns. This beanie style hat combines two colours with an all over textured pattern stitch. The hat also looks great when you combine variegated yarn with a solid yarn as the stitch pattern will break up pooling.

Needles: 3.0 mm/ US3 circular(s) or double pointed needles for working in the round.
3.5 mm/ US4 circular(s) or double pointed needles for working in the round.

Yarn: 50g sock weight yarn, 400m/100g in two colours; 100g total.

Shown in:
New Leaf Yarns very special alpaca blend (MC) and Regia merino silk blend in blue (CC).

Regia Creativ in black and grey (MC) and Opal sock yarn- turquoise, purple, green variegated with short repeats (CC).

Notions: Tapestry needle, six stitch markers.
Skills: Cast on, knitting in the round, knit, purl, colourwork, decreasing stitches, weaving in ends.

Gauge: 28 stitches and 30 rows over 10 cm / 4” in two colour textured pattern stitch.

Sizing: Toddler (child, small adult, large adult) corresponds to 46 (50, 56, 60) cm/ 18 (20, 22, 24)” head circumference. Note- the colourwork reduces the stretch of the knit fabric somewhat so you will cast on more stitches than for a plain hat in the same size.
