In the original Rainbow Pride Flag created in 1978, there were 8 stripes that each had a specific meaning, the red stripe represents life. My first instinct for this design was to pay homage to my favorite childhood movie The Wizard of OZ, thus the Ruby Slipper Socks were born. Sport weight socks are my favorite weight of socks because they give a little bit more oomph to each stitch! These socks are knit on the stockinette side of the fabric but are designed to show the reverse stockinette side of the fabric and feature a beautiful and simple bow on the toe of the sock to mimic Dorthy’s Ruby Slippers. The pattern includes written, charted, and video instructions.

Sizing

Choose the size that gives you 1-2” of negative ease.
Sizing is based on the circumference of the foot, not the length. To figure out the length of foot you need to knit, use the row gauge to calculate the number of rounds you will need to knit for your foot size subtracting 1.25”(1.25”,1.5”) for the toe, or try your sock on as you go!

S(M,L) – Circumference 8-9”(9-10”, 10-11”)

Construction Notes

• The pattern is written for magic loop where stitches are split evenly between two needles.
• Top-down construction.
• Slip stitch heel flap and gusset.
• Basic rounded toe that uses Kitchener stitch to graft live stitches.
• Socks are mostly worked inside out, meaning they are worked on the stockinette side, but worn with the reverse stockinette side facing out.
