The inspiration for this shawl came about when the weather here in Maine was teetering on the edge between winter and spring. The tiny, delicate wildflowers were beginning to poke their heads out from underneath the winter-bleached grasses and from between the herringbone bricks on the paths of my neighborhood, and they got me thinking about transition: between season and season, between cold and warmth, and between organic, fluid shapes and clear, linear angles. This shawl, worked in a traditional top-down triangle in luminous and crisp linen, is the perfect accessory for the changing seasons, and the simple, sweet lace pattern is a reminder of the first breath of spring air, and all the good things to come.
