A semi-circular shawl that lends itself to both self-striping and solid coloured yarns. This design was inspired by the character Rue from The Hunger Games, a nimble young athlete who’s special skill is her ability to move in the trees as if she had wings.

The main body comprises ripple stitches which lead to a lace edging. This starts with a wheat and blosson stitch pattern which leads to a leafy and netted edging.

This is designed for an intermediate knitter. It uses an unusual increase technique (I’ve never seen it used before but quite liked the ladder effect it created in Chart A) I’ve called it a “lifted double increase” this technique lifts the loop between the stitches below and this loop is knitted into front and back to create two new stitches.
