Ruffle skirt

The skirt is worked in the round from the waist towards the bottom edge. Provisional cast on is used to allow you to form a waistband with elastic casing as you are knitting - no sewing is required (photo tutorial included). The skirt is shaped by increases and ruffles are added at the end.

Skill level: intermediate
Sizes: 1, 2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 years. Sample shown in the photo is size 2 years.

49 (52, 55, 57.5, 60) cm / 19.5 (20.5, 21.5, 22.5, 23.5) in
skirt length:
22 (25, 29, 33, 37) cm / 8.5 (10, 11.5, 13, 14.5) in
Gauge/ Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm/ 4’’ in st st
Yarn: DK weight cotton: 370 (400, 470, 550, 620) metres
or 400 (440, 515, 600, 680) yards
You will need
short 4mm circular needle OR SIZE TO OBTAIN THE GAUGE
5mm crochet hook for provisional cast on
contrast colour waste yarn for provisional cast on (use smooth yarn that will be easy to unpick)
6 stitch markers
elastic about 1cm wide

included, but I assume you know how to crochet a chain),
Knitting waistband with elastic casing without sewing (photo
tutorial included),
Picking up sts,
Knitting short rows and wrapping stitch (used only once in the
