There are actually 3 different stitch patterns included for this scarf. Any weight of yarn can be used with a needle sized for that yarn. The designer recommends a DK weight or lighter to make a drapey, lightweight yet warm scarf. Gauge is not critical, depending on the yarn you choose and the look you want. The projects featured were made with a worsted weight superwash wool and an alpaca of unstated weight.
