This is the cover project on Simply Knitting 77, March 2011. It is a knitted jacket after the style of 19th century Russian military wear, with contrast i-cord detail on collar, mock pocket flaps and frogged button loops.

The pattern requires 12-15 x 50g balls of the recommended yarn in main colour, and 2 balls in contrast colour for trims, plus 5 buttons.

There is no stitch diagram or chart.

NB: The pattern description emphasises that this firm yarn, together with firm knitting, creates the structured look of this design, but that more drapey substitute yarns would fail to do this. Note that the bottom edge is just a cast-on followed by stockinet with no hem.
