I love gardening. We moved into a big house that we recently bought with our daughter and her family. The people previously owning this house must have enjoyed gardening also. There are veggies, flowers, roses, succulents, fruit trees and more. As a lovely surprise, the little strawberry plant in one of the planters has tiny baby strawberries already! My area is known for its scrumptious strawberries, so I bought another, bigger variety and now we have two strawberry plants. Then it hit me that my new springtime gnome pattern should honor these luscious berries! So, meet S. Trawberry.

You will need dk weight yarn. I chose Berroco Vintage DK and Vintage Baby for its hard wearing nature, while still being soft. It’s inexpensive and washable, making it perfect for decor like gnomes. You will need a set of four double pointed needles in size US4/3.5mm. You will need yarn in colors of peach (unless you’d like a different skin color), red, green, and white.

The gnome is worked in the round and is not too difficult for an intermediate knitter. The only seams are on the shoes. You will need to know how to knit in the round with double pointed needles and how to work i-cord. This little guy is a fitting tribute to spring!
