Sadie’s Shawl, named for a mascot of Texas yarn shop The Sated Sheep, was created in celebration of The Best Little Yarn Crawl in Texas 2019. Shown both in a luxurious wool/silk blend from Fyberspates and a soft MCN from Marianated Yarns, its simple elements of stockinette and garter combine with a clever lace pattern to make a lovely shawl. A flexible ending allows the knitter to use almost every last bit of yarn!

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.

Recommended Yarn:
Fyberspates Scrumptious 4ply — 55% merino / 45% bombyx silk — 399 yds (365 m) to 100 g per skein. Shown in colorways Teal (Color A) and Water (Color B).

Marianated Yarns Scrumptious HT — 80% superwash merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon — 400 yds (366 m) to 100 g per skein. Shown in colorways Bodacious Berry and Rose Quartz (two-tone pink sample) and Enchanted Watch and Dumbledore (blue and gold sample).

Shawl uses most of two skeins — approx. 798 yds (730 m) total.

Sizing:
56” (142 cm) along right edge, 69” (175 cm) along increase edge, 39” (99 cm) along top edge.

Gauge:
Blue sample — 22 sts and 28 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette st and 23 sts and 28 rows to 4” (10 cm) in lace pattern with bigger needle.

PLEASE NOTE: Pattern is not dependent on gauge, but changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used. The silk content in Scrumptious 4ply allows that sample to block to a larger size than may be achievable in yarns without silk.

Needles:
US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, 24” (60 cm) or longer, or needle size to obtain gauge plus needle one size smaller. Samples were worked with US 6 (4 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, but as I tend to knit fairly tightly, I’ve listed needles one size below what I used.

Other Materials:
Eleven stitch markers (one removable), tapestry needle.

Many thanks to Allison of The Sated Sheep and Marian of Marianated Yarns for their support! This pattern was professionally tech edited by Lisa Beth Houchins (Meanest Mommy Knits). The pink sample was knit by Sarah Scott.
